Lets take a deep dive into Merge and everything it offers

Have you ever been a part of a community that you thought was the next big token or project, only to be abandoned by the development team or creators of the project? Well, so have the members of the community over at Project Merge.

Merge was started as a refuge for members of communities that have been left behind and are looking for a new home. So far, the Merge community has welcomed me and others that I know with open arms and something akin to the digital version of good old southern hospitality.

This all started with the largest swap in crypto history where Merge offered their own native token “MERGE” as a replacement for the dead tokens in user’s wallets. I really recommend clicking the bold link two lines above because it is truly interesting and explains this phenomenon in much greater detail.

Interview with CTO

The CTO of Merge, Johnathan Astie, agreed to meet with me on August 17th, 2021 to discuss the project and future goals for Merge.

Their current goals include broader adoption and marketing of the procotols and software being developed at Merge, the core building blocks that make Merge a SAAS (Software as a Service) company.

We discussed in detail the ideals of Merge, which include not paying for services, but instead using escrow by staking tokens to use the protocols and software developed by Merge.

Johnathan works out of his office in Arlington, TX where he runs an embroidery company and manages Merge. He has been with the project since inception 2 years ago and has a 10 year plan from there, leaving 8 more years for development and adoption. The block rewards for staking will be distributed until this 10 year cycle has been completed.

We also discussed the upcoming farming and yield opportunities for Merge holders. This will roll out shortly, for the Binance Smart Chain version of the token. You may purchase the MERGE token via pancakeswap and stake the tokens on their farming website.

Some of these features will be detailed in this article. Click any of the features above to be redirected to the official page of each product.

Merge Chain

Merge’s blockchain uses Proof of Stake consensus via validators and delegators. This means that you can run a node for Merge and become a network validator. You may run a node on your own private server OR use Merge’s own hosting services! You may also directly purchase MERGE tokens on Stakecube, which will automatically stake your tokens and generate passive income for you.

RocketBot Pro

RocketBot is a robot created by the Merge team to provide payments via commands on social media. Rocket Bot currently supports Twitter, Discord, and Telegram. Rocket Bot has undergone 4 versions, each incorporating new features and use cases on the different supported platforms.

Using RocketBot’s tipping feature you may send funds to any other users on Twitter, Discord or Telegram. You can tip up to 5 users at once and this functionality does not require you to enter a user’s wallet address to send the tokens. It was created to be seamless and easy for anyone to use.

Rocketbot has undergone 4 revisions to date, each one drastically improving the functionality and adoption of different social websites.

The bot provides an API payment gateway which sets a basis for cross-chain operations. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Tron, Polkadot, Cardano, Litecoin, Dash, and PIVX are all supported by RocketBot, giving it the ability to list any tokens from all of these chains. The team at Merge obviously has a goal of working within all ecosystems and their mass adoption of chains shows this.

Membrane

“The membrane protocol provides concentrated strategies for value exchange within an application and between software modules.”
MERGE Article

Membrane is a protocol created by Merge that allows software and applications to “monetize” shared data such as allowing users to profit from allowing other users to access their phone as a wi-fi hotspot. Membrane is not the software itself, but the protocol for applications to be built on top of. Membrane sets definitions that allows different software to communicate fluently all without the user ever needing to know what’s going on behind the scenes.

One of the goals of Membrane is to monetize data usage and transfer that is otherwise free. At first this may seem like a bad thing, however the standard user is not who is being targeted for monetization here. Smart contracts allow the transfer of value and building on top of this with Membrane would allow for functions and operations that require high CPU usage or electricity to be monetized.

Merge Radio

“Merge Radio is an audio center where blockchain related news and content is streamed.”

The main use case for Merge Radio is to provide a 24/7 stream of blockchain related content and a platform for projects to advertise on. It is also, however, a product for the day-to-day user. Anyone can host their own radio station with 5gb of storage and the ability to live stream to other platforms like, discord for example.

Conclusion | Final Statements

Merge is a blockchain in its infancy. One that does not care if it’s native token is pumped to 10x nor does it care if the process of development takes time. This is the kind of project that I look for, because I know their concern is not me or them making money, but creating a platform to build upon and expand.

The Merge team has delivered on every promise and proposed feature, from creating a hybrid POW/POS system, by adding multiple layers of products both blockchain related and internet based and by being heavily involved with its small and tight knight community of those burned by ICO’s, rugs and abandonment. Please, DYOR, but stop by to the Merge communities and see for yourself! For some reason the Cheers them comes to mind: “Where Everybody Knows Your Name.”
